No, I don’t hate Marienne (You TV show)
Joe is obsessed with ‘’normal’’ women, common and almost always full of flaws, mysteries and problematic relationships, Joe sees these women as ‘’ helpless victims ‘’ of some ‘’villain’’ and he wants to be (and pedantically insists on being) the perfect ‘’prince charming savior’’ that these women did not ask for Joe. These characters who are Joe’s obsession end up becoming the hate of Joe’s groupies. At the same time that Joe is an arrogant subject in his world of books, women with low self-esteem are always idealizing a perfect, intellectual and virtuous woman who deserves Joe’s attention and knows how to admire the ‘’incredible’’ guy he is.
And all this provokes hatred in Joe’s fans, who wanted to be his ‘’cinderellas’’ (bella swan, anastasia steele, etc.). In real life, most of these guys with ‘’nice guy syndrome’’ are like that, they are only interested in troubled women as a challenge and these guys always have a harem of women available and desperate for the attention of a guy like that, but who are never interesting to them precisely because they are too available and too transparent. These female groupies of guys like Joe alternate between low self-esteem and megalomania. Low self-esteem about themselves, but megalomania about that’’perfect guy’’ and the perfect ‘’soulmate’’ he deserves. It is very reminiscent of the fandom squad of one of the protagonists of an old police investigation series.
